About
Simplicity and place.
Simple Dwelling is a film-led architecture publication grounded in simplicity and place.
Through thoughtful storytelling, we document homes shaped by clarity, restraint and an honest connection to landscape and place.
Founded in Melbourne, Simple Dwelling focuses on residential architecture defined by refined materiality, thoughtful planning and a dedication to the essential. Our approach is guided by a belief that design has the power to bring calm, connection and meaning to everyday life.
As a digital publication, we use film to look closely at the ideas that anchor each home. We spend time within the architecture, observing how light moves across materials and how spaces support the rhythms of daily living.
Our work is shaped by five core principles: the Essential, Space and Form, Light and Shadow, Materials, and Landscape and Place. These ideas guide the projects we feature and the way we frame them, through quiet stillness and a focus on what truly matters.
Simple Dwelling exists for an audience that values design as a considered way of living. Architects, designers, homeowners and design-lovers come here for clarity, inspiration and depth. It is a place to slow down and experience architecture with intention.
Through our films, we aim to create a lasting archive of contemporary residential design, grounded in simplicity and deeply connected to place.
