Drawing inspiration from the characteristics of minimalism, the form is simple, with clean lines and honesty in the material, with the ceramic sink trap remains being the hero of the bowl. Each bowl tells the story of Simple Dwelling and Claire Ellis Ceramics’ passion for sustainability.

The Remains Collection is handmade by Claire Ellis Ceramics in her Melbourne studio. Slight irregularities in size, form, colour, glaze and texture reflect the artisan nature of the collection and the unique beauty of recycled materials. We embrace these variations as they give insight into our processes and are indications that this work is not machine made and mass produced.

The Details

  • 19cm diameter x 4cm high

  • Each plate is dishwasher, oven and microwave-safe; however, avoid sudden shocks in temperature as it may cause damage (eg, freezer to oven).

    Simple Dwelling and Claire Ellis Ceramics have made these plates for daily use. Handmade ceramics stain and mark with time, which are natural signs of well-loved pieces. If you wish to refresh the surfaces, you may polish them with a sponge scourer and a baking soda paste made with warm water.

    While each piece is durable and can last a lifetime, please take care when stacking, and avoid sliding the pieces on each other’s rims to protect them from chips.

  • Did your order arrive damaged? Send us a photo of fully broken pieces within three days of delivery and we will replace them.

    If you accidentally break a piece, Claire can offer Kintsugi to repair it. Price will depend on the extent of damage. Otherwise, send your broken piece back to us and we will offer you a discount on your next order, and Claire will recycle your broken piece into new dinnerware.

  • Each piece is handmade to order, so allow 5-6 weeks from placing your order for us to ship it off to you.

    Shipping cost will be calculated based on the order weight and destination.
