How These Contemporary Townhouses Were Built Inside a Former Warehouse
Tucked down a small street in Melbourne's inner north suburb of Carlton is a small townhouse development that tells the story of contrasts between new and old. A series of new contemporary townhouses have been built within and above the existing brick warehouse.
DKO Architecture considered place and context, referencing the nearby church in the perforated metal screen and celebrating the history of the site. Vertical living is embraced, with each level opening up more and more as you ascend.
Waterloo Street has been designed by the project architect in a way that he would want to live, with small details and moments of delight scattered throughout.
